Exciting changes are happening out on our Sporting Clays course, and it is all thanks to the incredible power of our community.

A huge shoutout goes to a dedicated group of our amazing members who have been hard at work improving the course. Building and maintaining a top-tier sporting clays course is no small feat. It requires heavy lifting, long hours, and serious commitment. Our members have stepped up in a big way, donating their time, effort, and energy to elevate the experience for every shooter who steps onto the grounds.

We are incredibly grateful for your dedication. We truly appreciate everything you do to keep our club thriving!

We also want to extend a special, heartfelt thank you to the Dryden Tourism Trail Blazers Association. Their support has been instrumental in helping us develop and improve our course. Partnerships like this keep our local recreational spaces growing and vibrant.

Join us Thursday nights during shooting season to take part in our Sporting Clays! 

These enhancements are by the members, for the members, and we cannot wait for everyone to enjoy the fruits of this hard work.
 

The DDCC Trap Division had another successful year. 

This year we upgraded our Trap machine to a new Pat Trap machine, with the ability to throw single and double targets. Tuesday evenings we shot singles trap and Sunday afternoon doubles trap. I would like to thank Larry Perkins for his work in obtaining the new trap machine and spearheading the installation of the machine. I would also like to thank Dennis Lawrynuik and Larry Perkins for running Sunday afternoon trap shooting and for covering for me on Tuesday evenings when I was unable to attend. 

I would also like to thank everyone who attended Tuesday and Sunday shooting this summer. The weather didn’t always cooperate but we able to shoot most of the scheduled days.

A big thank you to everyone who attended and helped with the Windup shoot on October 1st, your attendance and help made the day a huge success.

The Ontario Federation of Anglers & Hunters and The Dryden Rotary Charity Foundation Provide $15,000 in Funding to Support Dryden District Conservation Club Inc. Archery Programs

The DDCC is pleased to announce that it has received a total of $15,000 in funding from the OFAH Community Conservation Fund ($10,000) and the Dryden Rotary Charity Foundation ($5,000 in 2022 and $5000.00 in 2021). These grants are being used to enhance the DDCC’s youth and traditional archery programs.

The DDCC has already used a portion of these funds to purchase a variety of youth archery equipment such as compound bows, arrows, target bags, ballistic safety backstops, and archery repair and maintenance equipment. We are also in the process of acquiring a number of wooden recurve bows, traditional handmade indigenous wooden longbows and arrows, quivers and other traditional archery equipment. These purchases will allow members of the DDCC to learn about, and experience archery first-hand, using the type of equipment first employed by our ancestors at archery’s birth hundreds of years ago, right through to the most technologically advanced archery equipment available today. 

Because of these generous gifts, The DDCC is now well on its way to becoming a best-in-class community archery facility. The executive and board of directors of the DDCC would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank both OFAH and The Rotary Club of Dryden for their generous financial support of our activities in the community and of our mission to be responsible stewards of our precious natural resources and wild places. Our growth and many successes in recent years would not have been possible without the financial support of organizations such as OFAH and The Rotary Club of Dryden.

"This grant money from the DRYDEN TRAILBLAZER TOURISM ASSOCIATION allows us to build a world class Sporting Clays facility.  Because the course will be paid for when built we will be able to offer larger prizes at competitions which will draw shooters from farther away like Fort Frances, Winnipeg, and Thunder Bay."

The Dryden District Conservation Club is receiving $107,353 to improve the clubhouse building through foundation repairs, roof replacement and upgrades to the plumbing, electrical and heating systems. These improvements will allow the club to provide more programming and events, attracting more visitors from surrounding communities.

"The Dryden District Conservation Club is grateful to be awarded funding from the Ontario government,” said Larry Perkins, Club President, Dryden District Conservation Club. “Thanks to this support, we will be able to make improvements to our building including new doors and windows, a heating system, roofing and many other renovations, some of which will make the clubhouse accessible. This is a huge boost for our club which all members will enjoy for many years, and it wouldn’t be possible without the government’s support.”
